When I think of a modern news cycle, I am in awe of its effect on life. Being cooped up inside and under a nationwide bit of confusion, one constant is that the stories that shape today are all too familiar, extremely quick-lived, and mostly painful to process. The concept is to make a headline typeface as ugly as right now feels.
Slimes New Roman is a two-parts project that I have been working on and off of over a couple of years. It is made up of a hand-drawn serif display typeface based on Times, and javascript that utilizes New York Times API.
The typesetting was done in Branding with Type’s Bw Nista Grotesk. The layout and other elements were made possible with the use of Bulma and Font Awesome
